Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a public speaker and consultant, a columnist syndicated, speaker writer, author and television show host. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, it was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran left the company shortly after. Corcoran was one of ABC's original Shark investors, has been a part of every episode of Shark Tank. In February of 2020 Corcoran had signed 53 deals, with the most significant being a $350,000 deal that covered 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was second child in a family of 10 children who was born in Edgewater.  Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father through Corcoran's early years. Sometimes, the family relied on the delivery of food for free from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father as an intoxicated man who would sometimes treat her mother with disrespect and disrespect, particularly after he had been drinking. Corcoran struggled with her education and was eventually diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran was educated at an Catholic elementary school, and later began high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
